Wednesday, January 4th 2012 Kyle and I found out that we are expect our first baby! This came to a shock for both of us. I knew I was a week late but I didn't think I was pregnant at all. I didn't have any recognizable symptoms. After work on Wednesday, I told Kyle why don't we stop at the store and buy a test just so we know either way. I have previously read that it is better to take a pregnancy test in the morning because it has a better chance of detecting the "pregnancy hormone." Well I am not patient at all! So right when I got home from work I took the test. It immediately came up positive. Kyle was in his office, and I told him to come into the bathroom. He looked at it, and looked at me and asked, "what does that mean?" I told him we were going to have a baby! It was a shock and surprise to both of us! We laughed, and smiled, and cried...We were both in shock!
We both decided that we would wait to tell anyone until after my first doctors appointment. The next day we both go to work and I email Kyle that I want to tell our parents. I could not keep it a secret. The whole day all I could think about was how I was going to tell my parents that I was pregnant, and I kept wondering what their response would be. I knew they would be excited, but I was still kind of nervous because we just got married 6 months ago, and we were already expecting our first baby! Not to mention we are living at Minnesota, which makes things more complicated.
Around 3:45p.m on Thursday, right before I left from work I got a text from my mom saying, "I thought of the perfect baby name for a boy!" This freaked me out because I thought she knew I was pregnant already before I even had a chance to tell her. (We have ESPN sometimes :) Anyways, after texting my mom for a few minutes I asked her if she wanted to SKYPE tonight. Once we got home from work, we had dinner, and after dinner I texted to mom to SKYPE. At the beginning of our conversation it was just normal chit-chat, and we did talk about baby names for a few minutes. Not to her knowledge yet that I was pregnant. I asked my mom to go upstairs by herself because I wanted to tell her first. She went up to my room and asked whats up. I told her I was pregnant! She was so excited! And couldn't believe it! She has the best reaction! :D
Now it was time to tell my Dad. He was outside in the garage. It is nice being on Skype because I can see their reactions, unlike just being on the telephone. So my mom goes outside with her Ipad and tells my dad that I have something to tell him. I told him that he is going to be grandpa! He didn't believe me at first. He looked at my mom to see if I was being serious. I told him that I was serious, he was also in shock but happy too. After talking to my parents we told Kyle's mom that we were expecting. She was excited and happy for us as well. She couldn't believe that we were pregnant.
As of right now I am 5 weeks pregnant. At five weeks the baby is about the size of a sweet pea. Kyle and I started calling the baby Our Little Sweet Pea. :)
